Parish Council Meeting - 18 February 2010

Representatives from Tupton Rugby Club attended the meeting to raise concerns regarding the amount of dog fouling on the Northside Recreation Ground. This was preventing the Club from using the pitches for their matches and also from training on the ground. The Parish Council had erected notices in the vicinity of the ground warning people of the consequences of allowing their dogs to foul the area but these had been vandalised and ripped down.

The Council would continue to work with the District Council and local people to identify persons allowing their dogs to foul the recreational ground and would be issuing £50 fixed penalty notices to those individuals. Failure to pay this fine could result in a prosecution being brought in the Magistrates Court with a potential fine of £1,000. Anyone with information on individuals who repeatedly allow their dog to foul recreational grounds or pavements within the Parish should contact either a member of the Council or the dog warden on 01246 231111.

The Council would also be replacing the rugby posts on Northside as the current posts had corroded and been removed for health and safety reasons. These posts would be installed in time for the start of the new season at the end of August.

Work was progressing in identifying suitable sites for this year’s summer floral displays and a meeting with the contractor was to be arranged during March to confirm possible locations and investigate the options available.

The next meeting of the Parish Council would be held on Thursday 18 March 2010 starting at 7pm in the Village Hall.
